Winery — Northwest of the city, foot of the Aino mountains
Hatzisavva Vineyards is a family-run, organic winery northwest of Alexandroupolis, planted on slopes at the foot of the Aino mountains. It's run by Kiki Hatzisavva, a biologist and oenologist who guides tastings herself — reviewers consistently single out how personal the visit feels compared to a larger commercial winery.
The estate makes small runs of Thracian wine, including a Malagouzia dry white, and survived a genuine setback in 2023 when wildfires destroyed that year's entire harvest — the vines have since recovered. Tours and tastings are by arrangement rather than drop-in, so contact them ahead via their Facebook or Instagram page before making the trip out.
A good pairing with the Kyklopas Olive Mill Tour for a half-day built around Thracian food and drink rather than beaches and ruins.
