Beach — Makri, ~12km west of the city
Makri sits on the coast about 12km west of Alexandroupolis, and its beach is the organized, easy-access option on a stretch of coast that also holds the wilder Agia Paraskevi and the rocky coves further along. Sunbeds, umbrellas, and a run of tavernas back the sand, making it a straightforward stop rather than a scenic detour.
It doubles as the starting point for the short climb up to the Cyclops Cave — worth combining the two into one outing rather than treating them as separate trips, since the trailhead sits right above the village.
