Beach — Mesimvria, ~20km west of the city
Mesimvria's beach runs for close to two kilometres in front of the village and the ancient ruins of Zone, making it the westernmost organized swimming spot along this stretch of coast, about 20km from Alexandroupolis. The sand is fine, with basic organized sections rather than a full resort build-out.
Its real draw is the pairing with the archaeological site right behind it — walk the ancient walls and temple foundations, then cool off in the sea a few steps away. Few other beaches on this coast let you do both in one stop.
