Lake — Tychero, ~35km east of the city
Tychero's lake sits right beside the town, a reservoir that's settled into a genuine small wetland over time, with reed margins that draw waterbirds without the scale or infrastructure of the Evros Delta further south.
The Tychero Tourist Centre on its shore doubles as the access point for the nearby petrified forest exhibit, so the two make an easy combined stop — a lakeside coffee and a look at 35-million-year-old fossilised wood in the same short visit.
