Lefkimmi

Lefkimmi sits right on the border of the protected Dadia Forest, about 47km from Alexandroupolis, and takes its name from the poplar trees (lefkes) that once grew thickly around it. It's less a destination in its own right than a base — a quiet, small-scale stop for anyone splitting a day between the Dadia vulture observatory and the wider Evros countryside.

Its position between the Evros Delta and Dadia Forest makes it a sensible stopover on a loop that takes in both, rather than somewhere to build a whole day trip around.
