Alexandroupolis has enough indoor stops within a few minutes' walk of each other to fill a genuinely wet day without a car: four museums covering archaeology, Thracian tradition, natural history, and religious art, with cafés between them to wait out the heaviest showers.
This works just as well as an off-season itinerary as a rainy-day one — several of these are quick visits on their own, so it's easy to compress into half a day if the weather clears.
