Beach — Nea Chili, west of the city
Kokkina Vrachia — literally "Red Rocks" — is named for the rust-coloured cliffs and outcrops that frame the bay near the village of Chili, cutting the water into a series of small coves rather than one long stretch of sand.
Some of the rock formations at the edges run up to ten metres high, which draws a more adventurous crowd for rock hiking and cliff jumping alongside the regular swimmers. The clear water around the rocks is genuinely good for a cooling swim, though it's more about the scenery here than sand quality.
A good stop to pair with Agia Paraskevi or Dikella further along the same coast road — three very different beach characters within a short drive of each other.
