Beach — Nea Chili, ~10 minutes by car west of the city
Nea Chili's beach runs along the village's main coast road, about 10 minutes west of Alexandroupolis by car. Most of it is unorganized — free sand rather than rented loungers — with one section set up with facilities close to the village centre.
The sand here is a distinctive fine brown rather than the paler stretches further along the coast, and the water stays clean enough for local beach-cleaning volunteer events to be run here. Tavernas and pizzerias line the road just back from the shore, making it easy to turn a swim into a full afternoon.
It's a different stretch from Kokkina Vrachia's rocky coves a short walk away — come here for straightforward sand, and walk over to the Red Rocks for the scenery.
